KC Hunter, Farm Manager

KC Hunter is the youngest daughter of Mitch and Kathy Steege, owners of Red Acre Farm, a prominent Massachusetts show and lesson barn. KC grew up riding and working with her parents, showing through the junior hunters at A rated shows. KC's involvement was always hands on - from helping Red Acre students tack up at home, to being a groom and managing the teens at the shows on the road. KC earned her Massachusetts instructors license while attending UMASS as a pre-vet major and taught in the summers. After college KC relocated to Maryland where she taught at Loftmar stables. She was given the opportunity to teach Loftmar's NCEL equitation teams in a competitive program. Her teams excelled and by her second year, KC was honored to receive the coaches award. Missing being hands on taking care of horses led KC from teaching to Bayfield. KC's experience provides her with a unique understanding for the management and care of the retired champions, lay ups who are used to being pampered and the babies preparing to be show horses. She takes the job of second mom seriously and treats each horse like her own.

Nancy Connolly, Owner

Nancy Connolly is a horse show mom to Annie Connolly. She founded and managed a company in MA for about 20 years but it had nothing to do with horses so it is neither relevant nor important. When Annie started riding at age 5, Nancy embraced the barn and horse show world but other than shopping and horse laundry, avoided any hands on involvement. Because Annie spent every possible moment at Red Acre Farm or at horse shows with Mitch and Kathy Steege, Nancy spent almost as many hours observing lessons, shows and barn chores. Many years and many jumps later when two of Annie's horses were retired, Nancy focused on finding a permanent home for them and founded Bayfield Farm "where equine champions come to unwind." Nancy has now learned a few "hands on" activities from Farm Manager KC Hunter, but her favorite chore is giving treats and hugs at the very end of the day. Nancy splits her time between Bayfield, the NY area and France and knows the best time to be at Bayfield is...well anytime. She looks forward to expanding the business and welcoming new clients to Bayfield Farm.
